Pete Chen Wins First WPT Beijing
Pete Chen took down the Main Event of the first World Poker Tour event to be held in Beijing. Chen beat 400 other entries for a prize just shy of US $300,000 in the first event of Season 16 of the World Poker Tour.
The World Poker Tour will now move on to Amsterdam, where it will merge with the PokerStars Championship for Montedam. Season 16 will then pause for the World Series of Poker festivities, which officially begin on May 31st with the Casino Employees event and the $10,000 Tag Team NLHE Championship event.
In other live tournament news, 2016 November Nine player Vojtech Ruzicka fought off 109 other players to win the £10,300 High Roller at the Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham. The performance was good enough for $363k in U.S. Dollars. The £6 million Main Event is underway with a winner to be crowned this Sunday.
– The Bellagio is the latest poker room to stream live on Twitch. BellagioPOTS is scheduled to stream $2-$5-$10 No Limit Hold’em games every Wednesday on Twitch for the next five weeks, starting April 26th. It will return after the summer (h/t Poker Update) .
