Non-Commercial, Sarcasm Free, Helpful Response Post Found On Rec.Gambling.Poker
THE INTERNET - Online poker pundits are all abuzz about an event that has rocked the status quo of poker discussion on the internet: a non-commercial, sarcasm-free, helpful response to a question posted on the rec.gambling.poker [RGP] newsgroup.
RGP, the largest online discussion forum for poker, hosts tens of thousands of posts per week on topics from hand advice to upcoming tournaments to conspiracy theories. Generally when a post is submitted, three or four sarcastic responses appear within minutes. These responses are usually followed by more sarcasm, personal attacks and unrelated spam. But, to the shock of the nearly 40,000 RGP members, on June 20th, 2004, newcomer ‘rulestheblinds’ submitted a post asking members to rate his play of JJ in an online tournament and member ‘KingofParty_Poker’ reportedly submitted the first response, a lengthy, well thought-out post that constructively dissected the play.
Unfortunately the post in question has become more a matter of myth and legend as a horde of RGP regulars worked tirelessly though the night to bury the thread under mountains of posts with subjects such as “PARRTY PKoER IS RIGGED”, “GET 200 FREE ON FIRST DEPOSIT” and “THE FINAL TRUTH FROM NEWGCA YOU’RE ARE ALL SCRWED YOU STUPID PEOPLE.”
