New Poker TV Network ‘Poker Central’ to Produce Coverage of $500K Event

Dustin Gouker : April 8th, 2015

A new poker-only television network is set to produce the $500,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl at Aria in Las Vegas serving as the centerpiece of its launch.

Poker Central, the world’s first and only 24/7 poker TV network, will lead coverage of the high roller this summer. The SHRB, set to be held July 2-4, already has 56 confirmed players; learn more about the event here, and the confirmed players here.

Poker Central is working with POKER PROductions, which produces the ESPN broadcast of the World Series of Poker, has also produced NBC’s Poker After Dark, GSN’s High Stakes Poker, and NBC’s National Heads-Up Poker Championship.

According to a press release from Poker Central, the SHRB will be “televised on a major television network.” Given the connections to NBC and ESPN, NBCSN or one of the ESPN family of networks seems like a likely landing spot for the tournament.

“We are excited to partner with ARIA and POKER PROductions to announce this new and thrilling event,” Clint Stinchcomb, CEO of Poker Central, said in a press release. “It’s sure to be one of the most captivating and popular tournaments in poker.”

Professional poker players scheduled to compete include Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari, Erik Seidel, Scott Seiver, Dan “jungleman12″ Cates, Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Sam Trickett, among many others.

The event is being held during the World Series of Poker — right before the start of the $10,000 main event. It will also take place before a World Poker Tour event also held at the Aria — a $565 tourney with $2 million guaranteed.

Also of interest about the Super High Roller Bowl:

  • The event is apparently not a “one-off,” as the event is scheduled to be an annual occurrence, according to a press release.
  • There will be no maximum number of players allowed to buy in.
  • As for the new Poker Central network, it’s not clear where you will be able to view its content in the long run. There is no information about the network appearing as a part of any cable or satellite package on its website. According to the site, “Poker Central offers unique all‑day, everyday access to exclusive poker tournaments, celebrity players, tips and tricks from the pros, player profiles and stunning destinations from around the globe.”
