It’s time for a new chapter in one of the odder and persistent stories in the high stakes online poker world – the saga of Isildur1.
What’s not to like about the story? You have super-high stakes, a mystery man who comes out of nowhere and challenges the best the poker world has to offer – and crushes them – before giving it all back and then some.
When Isildur1 lost several million in the now semi-controversial match versus Cardrunners pro Brian Hastings, many people assumed that would be the end of it, that Isildur1 was just another flash in the high stakes pan.
Apparently he has other ideas.
We’ve seen a bit of random play from Isildur1 over the last couple of weeks, with sporadic sessions taking place at a variety of limits. That was just a precursor for something bigger, it appears, as the Swede is back at the higher stakes with a bit of a vengeance.
After tangling a bit with Dwan earlier in the month, Isildur1 found a long line of mid to high stakes pros willing to sit for a match. Yesterday his opponents included Isaac “luvtheWNBA” Haxton and Justin “Zeejustin” Bonomo.
Haxton probably felt pretty good about his decision after pocketing about $120k. Probably feeling less positive was Bonomo, who dropped a bit over $550k while playing several tables of $200/$400 NLHE The session would down when Bonomo lost one of his backers for the match, according to the chat:

That session, along with a five-figure score at cap PLO against a lineup that included Gus Hansen, was enough to generate a boost of almost 700k to Isildur1’s bankroll.
