Isildur1 to Play in Party Poker’s Big Game

Is the world finally ready to figure out who the mysterious Swedish high-stakes player known as Isildur 1 actually is?

According to Party Poker sponsored pro Tony G, Isildur1 will be playing in Party’s Big Game IV, to be held April 11-13, at the Les Ambassadeurs club in London.

Last week, Tony G had offered to stake Isildur1 in the game, and apparently, he has accepted. Phil Laak, Luke “Full_Flush” Schwartz and Tony G himself are some of the players scheduled to play.

Isildur1 made a splash last year in the high-stakes scene at Full Tilt Poker, playing at the highest levels and against the best players in the world. He famously took millions from Tom “durrrr” Dwan, but then lost a lot of his bankroll through a downswing and a -$4 million session against Brian Hastings. After a hiatus, Isildur1 has become a regular again at the high-stakes tables.

Isildur1 has long been rumored to be young Swedish player Viktor Blom, and Schwartz confirmed that last week. But much of the poker community is waiting for an official announcement — or now, Blom’s appearance at the big game.

However, Isildur1 has gained a lot of fame from his anonymity, and it’s unclear whether he will actually reveal himself for the game. Tony G has said he could even wear a mask, if he wanted to. From Tony’s blog:

The question you all want the answer too is will he reveal his identity? This is what I am discussing with him at the moment, he is seriously thinking about just revealing himself to the world but the mask offer still stands! I will update you on this soon.

Tony said he as received an e-mail from Isildur1, and he is guaranteeing that Isildur1 will be at the Big Game, masked or unmasked. He said he “will provide evidence to prove that it is the man behind the avatar.”

How much is this going to cost me? In all honesty, I don’t really know at the moment and I don’t care. I will destroy him even though I am staking him with have my own money. Why would a multi-millionaire like Isildur1 need staking by me? Good question, I get the point – he could be on a downswing by then but look at it this way – would you turn down a complete freeroll?

The Big Game IV will be taped, and is scheduled to be televised in the United Kingdom later this year.
