Hit and Run: Poker’s Best Live Streams; Daniel Negreanu: US Citizen; VIP Programs Continue to Evolve

Steve Ruddock : March 13th, 2016

Daniel Negreanu is now a US citizen. Online poker VIP programs are evolving across the globe.  Who are the best live streamers in the poker world? And more.

VIP reward programs are in a state of flux

The online poker industry has been around for a lot longer than most people realize (If you want to feel old consider for a moment that we’re just two years away from the 20th anniversary of the launch of Planet Poker), but despite its age the industry is currently in an experimentation phase, as operators try to replace the rakeback with a new VIP rewards model.

It will be interesting to watch how this era of experimentation plays out, and which new model proves to be the best.

Quick Hitters

- Daniel Negreanu was officially sworn in as a U.S. citizen this weekend, and the self-made millionaire was also invited to speak at the ceremony. Negreanu used the stage to implore his fellow new U.S. citizens to go out and vote this November.

- Germany’s Stefan Schillhabel won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bay 101 Main Event this weekend, denying Maria Ho the title and the chance to go down in poker history as the first female WPT Champion.

- Yet another round of Full Tilt Poker refunds have just gone out, this time some $2.6 million will be refunded to players who’ve been waiting since April of 2011!

- High stakes poker legend David “Viffer” Peat was spotted playing some $5/$5 NLHE at Oceans 11. Some on 2+2  think he’s just the latest in an increasingly long lined of former poker stars who have fallen on hard times, others have guessed he’s just playing the game to play poker.

- PokerListing’s has compiled a list of the best live streamers (Twitch and YouTube) in the poker world. It’s a comprehensive list full of big names and some not so well known players who may be the next crop of poker stars.

- If you’re planning on attending the iGaming North America (iGNA) conference here are the can’t-miss panels on the schedule, including one that features yours truly.
