New Revenue Package Floated – Without Online Gambling Included
A group of Republicans in the Pennsylvanian House of Representatives have introduced an alternative to the Senate’s revenue bill which passed in July. Unfortunately for online gambling proponents, this particular plan does not include language that would expand gambling and regulate online gambling.
Although the prospects for the new House of Representatives bill are unknown, it does pose an to online gambling passing this year. The Senate bill that passed earlier this summer would is estimated to raise $200 million towards a $2.3 billion package to balance the state’s budget. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has indicated he would begin freezing certain state spending as early as next week, a move which could serve as a catalyst for a new spending bill that may or may not include online gambling revenue.
– Hurricane Irma’s arrival in Florida this weekend has led to authorities encouraging nearly the entire state of Florida to evacuate. Unsurprisingly, poker rooms across the state are closing for the weekend as far north as Jacksonville. Jason Mercier, who initially indicated he was going to stay, has also headed north:

– There were seven more winners during Day 5 of the PokerStars WCOOP. The biggest victor of the day was “Ahhh Is It?,” who won a $68,721 prize in the No Limit Hold’em High Bubble Rush. Also noteworthy was Nicolas “chilenocl” Yunis, whose victory in the $1,050 means he has now won TCOOP, SCOOP and WCOOP titles. In other WCOOP news, John “PearlJammer” Turner won his first WCOOP event.
