And while quite a few of them want some type of compensation in return (not a totally unreasonable request); some are provided by people purely through their own goodwill. PokerEV is one such piece of software that seems to fall into the latter category (at least until the better version is finished). It was developed by the creator as an attempt at upgrading current statistical data programs that the person was unhappy with and to showcase the upcoming version.

Movies and TV dramas have made their attempts at depicting what really goes on with poker players behind the scenes and on the road. And so far most of them have failed miserably in delivering anything that’s even close to being realistic about the subject (anyone ever watch the old ESPN series “Tilt”?). That is why it’s up to the World Wide Web to dish out a little truthfulness about the players and show that their lives are not constantly being threatened and filled with scandal. PokerRoad.com is one such site that is attempting to accomplish this feat.

First, let’s squash the notion that playing 1 SNG at a time is even feasible. If you’ve never played more than one table at a time, you might be worried about what happens to your abilities when adding additional tables. Well, first, start by adding just one more table. Playing 2 tables at a time should really have minimal or no negative impact to your play, and by playing 2 at once, you are basically doubling your $/hr even if you don’t get any better over time as a player.

While single table satellites have a long history in live poker, the idea of a one-table freezeout with no greater goal or prize didn’t really take off until the online poker boom. Fast forward a few years and you find a fully developed format that has evolved into a unique type of poker with strategy and tactics all of its own. Jared Hubbard, known online as jhub3000, is one of the top players in the format. You’ll consistently find Hubbard sitting atop the leader boards at Sharkscope across several SNG categories. Jared was nice enough to take a few minutes away from the tables to answer our questions about SNG play, the life on an online SNG pro, and his outlook on the future of the game.

Well, that is a possible avenue, but as a player you need to realize that theoretically, the larger the buy-in the better the skill of the average player at that level. I’m not saying that there aren’t fish at all levels of poker, but what I’m saying is that why move up if it means you become one of those fish?
