PokerStars is producing a documentary on poker pro Daniel Negreanu and released a teaser for the movie on Friday.

The movie will be called “KidPoker.” The existence of the movie was announced during the live stream of the European Poker Tour Grand Final main event. The trailer, which can be seen below, was shown on the webcast.

In the trailer, several pros talk about Negreanu, including Phil Ivey and Antonio Esfandiari.

Negreanu is one of the best known poker players in the world, and a movie about him would likely be well-received and watched by the poker community. He has amassed nearly $30 million in live tournament earnings, along with six World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles.

Here is a description of the movie from YouTube:

Daniel Negreanu, the man, the legend, and the subject of a soon to be released documentary that promises to take you into the mind and soul of one of the greatest poker players to have ever graced the felt. PokerStars Original Films presents KidPoker.

So far, there are no details about how the movie will be distributed. It is not known if the movie will be a theatrical release or will simply be available online for free, or if the movie will be distributed through some other means. Despite Negreanu’s popularity in the poker world, it seems unlikely the movie would have enough legs to be distributed via theaters.

The announcement of the documentary came on the heels of an announcement that Daniel Negreanu would be working with a new poker-only television network called Poker Central. That would be another possible avenue for the release of the movie, although Poker Central is not yet on a cable or satellite package.
