Every day, thousands of poker players take the dive into online poker. Since they’re new to online poker, they generally set up an account at one of the ‘big two’ online poker rooms: Poker Stars or Full Tilt Poker. It seems like a reasonable choice – both are established rooms with tons of games available.
Almost none of these players realize the critical mistake they’re making by choosing to play on Stars or Full Tilt instead of the room many online pros regard as the best value in online poker – Cake Poker. It’s a mistake plenty of established players make as well.
Why should you choose Cake Poker instead of Stars or Full Tilt Poker? Three reasons: softer games, better rakeback and a better deposit bonus.
SOFTER GAMES
Bottom line: you make more money playing poker when you play against weaker players, and Cake Poker just flat out has weaker players than PokerStars or Full Tilt. Why?
A few reasons: First, Full Tilt and PokerStars allow players to play dozens of tables at once, meaning that almost every table on PokerStars or Full Tilt has at least a few tough regulars (if not a whole table full). That’s not the case at Cake.
Second, Full Tilt and PokerStars both support a ton of third party applications that collect data on opponents, such as Holdem Manager, Poker Tracker, and so on, that a majority online professionals consider essential to their play. Cake Poker supports very few of these applications, meaning that a large percentage of tough online pros don’t even bother with the site. Less pros equals easier games.
Finally, fewer good players means that bad players manage a win more often, so they stick around longer and redeposit when they do eventually lose, as winning sessions in their memories to motivate them to return.
BETTER RAKEBACK
Being a profitable online poker player is very difficult without rakeback. If you’re not familiar, rake is the small fee poker rooms cut from every pot, and rakeback is when rooms refund part of that fee to players as a promotional tool.
PokerStars doesn’t offer rakeback. Full Tilt Poker offers 27% rakeback, but they deduct bonuses and promotions from your rakeback. Cake Poker offers 33% rakeback and doesn’t deduct any promotions from your rakeback payments. That amounts to hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over the course of a typical year for even a recreational player.
BETTER DEPOSIT BONUS
PokerStars generally only offers a small deposit bonus – usually 50% up to $100 or so. Full Tilt offers 100% up to $600. Cake Poker beats them both – 110% deposit bonus up to $600, and you can earn rakeback as you clear the bonus, increasing the overall value.
Softer games, better rakeback and stronger bonuses – when you cut past the hype and look at the facts, it’s clear that Cake Poker simply has more to offer for online poker players.
