Is Isildur1’s recent downturn — including losing the biggest pot in the history of online poker — the end of the road for the high-stakes player? Or is it just a bump in the road?
We’ve already seen the still unknown Swedish player known as “Isildur1″ go through huge swings in his short time as a part of the high-stakes action at Full Tilt Poker. But in the last few days he’s given back a lot of the profits he’s made in November.
Most notably during his current downswing, he lost the record-setting pot we alluded to earlier — $1,356,946.50 to Patrik Antonius. It was the first pot ever played online for more than a million dollars, and it eclipsed the hand played by the same two players for just under $900K. You can watch a video of that hand here:
That pot was part of a really bad night for isildur1 — he lost about $3.3 million to Antonius and Phil Ivey. Playing a mix of no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha, it took less than 5,000 hands for Isildur1 to give up that chunk of change.
At one point earlier this month, Isildur1 was up about $6 million for November, and the year. Now, he is up just $1.7 million for the month (Ivey and Antonius are both up more than $3 million for the month after yesterday’s monster session). According to highstakesdb.com, Isildur1 is now just ahead a total of $750K since he started playing at Full Tilt last month. He’s played just over 100,000 tracked hands in that time frame.
Isildur1 has always bounced back from his losses before, but will he be able to come back from his biggest downturn to date? Stay tuned.
