What are overlays?
Online poker rooms often run tournaments with guaranteed prize pools. When not enough players enter to make the guarantee, the room has to make up the difference. That difference is called an overlay, and it basically amounts to money added to the prize pool of a tournament – a great value for online poker players

What tournaments are likely to have overlays this month?
Based on what scheduled tournaments failed to make their guarantees over the last few weeks, here’s what the upcoming weeks are likely to offer….

Bodog: If you’re looking for the largest overlays across the widest spectrum of buyins, Bodog is the place for you – also, there’s the added value present from a lot of regulars snubbing the room due to cashout issues in the past (which seem to be resolved, if forum chatter is any indication). One example: The Bodog 15k gtd, a $55+5 that runs weekdays at 7:30pm est overlaid by as much as $2,900 last month. That’s equivalent to almost 20% of the field being eliminated before a single hand is even dealt. There’s rarely a guarantee that Bodog makes in their regular schedule.

Carbon Poker: Carbon doesn’t offer the widespread overlays it once did, but if you’re looking for a solid rakeback deal and some overlay value to go along with it, Carbon is a nice choice.
