This year’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open will guarantee $5 million, down from its $10 million prize pool from 2014, which resulted in a huge overlay.

The big guaranteed SHRPO main event will be back for its third straight year at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The tournament series will run from July 30 through August 19. The actual dates of the main event have not yet been released, although it appears the tournament is scheduled to end on August 18.

The main event will be a single flight — that means there will not be multiple starting days — single-entry tournament, with a $5,250 buy-in.

The first SHRPO, held in 2013, was a rousing success. Guaranteeing $10 million, the tournament featured more than 2,300 entrants and generated a prize pool of nearly $12 million. The second version, held last year, was a disaster for the Seminole Hard Rock. $10 million was guaranteed for the second straight year, but entries fell far short of expectations and a $2.5 million overlay was the result.

Last year’s winner was Dan Colman, a part of his epic year that included a victory in the $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop at the World Series of Poker.

The announcement came on the heels of the World Poker Tour event held at the Florida casino, the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. That tournament also featured a $5 million prize pool, and that guarantee resulted in an overlay of $275,000.

As part of the big finale for the tournament series, its four largest events will all have final tables taking place simultaneously on Tuesday, August 18. In addition to the $5 million guaranteed championship, the other three tournaments will be a $25,000 buy-in High Roller, a $2,500 buy-in and a $1,100 buy-in. Poker pro Phil Hellmuth is slated to provide commentary for all four events — assuming he is not at the final table of any of them.

The four final tables will all be streamed live online, and eventually will be aired on CBS Sports Network some time in 2016.

Satellite events and promotions are available at five Seminole Gaming properties – Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Brighton and Seminole Casino Immokalee. Registration will open in July.
